| I've been at a loss for ideas on travel related subjects to place on my web site. A friend suggested I list my past travel history. That others may find my travel experiences interesting. It's beyond me why anyone would want to know where in the world I've been. But I have lots of web space to fill, so I will attempt a brief outline of my past travel accomplishments and future travel goals. | |
| Ever since I can remember, I had three major travel goals. To visit the Great Pyramids of Egypt, the Great Wall of China, and the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru. I finally completed the last of those goals in 1998, travelling to Peru to see Machu Picchu. Since then, I've struggled with ideas for new travel goals, insignificant compared to the three I've had most of my life. I realized that my trip to Peru was my first time to South America, which counted the sixth continent I'd visited. I've decided to add Antarctica to my list future trips so that I can count having been to all 7 continents of the world. | |
| I realize that I've really only scratched the surface in travel. After tallying the states and foreign countries I've visited, I count only 32 states and 20 foreign countries. But how many hours do you have to be in a particular location before you can claim you've "been there"? Does a couple of hours in an airport changing planes count? Or is there a minimum number of hours required before you can say you've visited a particular location. Right now, I'll list those locations outside the U.S. I've been to, excluding airport layovers. Clearly any list of future travel goals would be considerably larger. So I will only show a few of the countries higher on my list. | |
